Anytime you have a Johns Hopkins team that has two losses, one to Syracuse and one to a Princeton team with a losing record, you have to, HAVE TO, rank them higher than a one-loss Syracuse team and a two-loss Cornell team that just beat up that Syracuse team.
You just have to. And to be honest, they should probably be ahead of undefeated Notre Dame as well. Why? Because, that's why.
Notre Dame take over as No. 1 in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll. The Irish have 12 of the 16 first-place votes.
Cornell, who was No. 5 when they beat then-No. 1 Syracuse, moves up to No. 3 and gets two first-place votes.
The Orange were bumped all the way down to No. 4. I'd say the person who still gave Syracuse a first-place vote was the dumbest move of the week, that is, if someone else didn't give No. 2 Hopkins a first-place vote as well.
Denver rounds out the Top 5 while Maryland, Duke, Hofstra, Virginia and North Carolina round out the Top Ten.
That top five remains exactly the same in the USILA Division I Coaches Poll. Notre Dame received 13 first-place votes while one lone dissenter gave their first-place vote to Hopkins. Obviously.
In both polls, fellow Big East team Villanova remains No. 11, destined to sit outside the gates of the Top Ten for all of eternity.
Th Orange have four games left, including Tuesday's rivalry game with Hobart and an impending showdown with No. 1 Notre Dame on April 30th.
