Syracuse University Athletics - Softball to Play in the Carrier Dome
For the first time in program history, the Syracuse University softball team will play regular season games in the Carrier Dome. The "Dual in the Dome" is set for March 23rd and 24th, where the Orange will play Colgate on Friday night at 7:00 p.m., and will be televised by Time Warner. The Orange will then face Canisius on Saturday. The game time is still to be determined.

Syracuse University Athletics - Kevyn Scott Named to Capital One Academic All-America First Team
Syracuse senior captain Kevyn Scott was named to the 2011 Capital One Academic All-America First Team on Thursday, Dec. 8. He is the 10th player in the history of the Orange football program to receive first-team academic All-America honors and the first since center Jim McKenzie in 2009.

Unsolicited, he brought up the uproar after the Terps' NCAA Quarterfinal game against Syracuse, during which they were notably given double-digit stall warnings. He said that he and his staff didn't discuss stalling, holding the ball or slowing down at all — the flow of the game and the quality of Syracuse's big, athletic defenders meant the Terps were pressured into a lot of shots that goalie John Galloway would eat up.

It is easy to get discouraged by the seemingly never-ending media circus, but the university and the students have handled it well. It is difficult to pinpoint exactly why so few students have been rattled by the investigation. It seems to be a mix of some not being too invested in the case, (not many students knew who Fine was before the news broke, while everybody in State College, Pennsylvania, knew Joe Paterno), and others not wanting to come off the negative way that the Penn State students did.

Syracuse University Athletics - Orange Earns 19th AFCA Academic Honor
The Syracuse University football program is one of 44 schools to earn the 2011 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Academic Achievement Honorable Mention Award, marking the 19th time the Orange has been honored, and fifth time in the past six years. The 2011 award reflects the academic success of the class that entered in the Fall of 2004. Boise State and Miami (Ohio) won the 2011 AFCA Academic Achievement Award.
