Syracuse 75 - Seton Hall 49: Hello, My Name Is Fabricio de Melo, You Doubted My Potential, Prepare To Die

I don't want to alarm you but 2012 is right around the corner and Fab Melo just came within three rebounds of a triple-double. The end is nigh.

But if it is nigh, it's the kind of nigh I'm fine with.

Dion Waiters netted a game-high 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor, leading the No. 1 Syracuse Orange to a 75-49 drubbing of Seton Hall in the opener of Big East conference play for both teams.

Fab Melo dropped 12 points and pulled down seven rebounds to go with 10 blocks, which breaks Etan Thomas' school record of nine. He blocked Herb Pope to break the record.

Brandon Triche finished with 11 points for the Orange to go with his four assists.

Jordan Theodore paced the Pirates (11-2, 0-1 Big East) with 14 points, while Patrik Auda ended with six points and eight boards. Brandon Mobley scored seven points and Herb Pope donated four points to go with nine rebounds.

For the Orange it was a complete cakewalk. Mookie Jones and the walk-ons (great band name) all saw action and the game was never really in doubt. That'll happen when you're up 34-15 at the half on the back-end of 12-1 run.

Let's not forget about C.J. Fair who put up another solid night with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals. It's getting boring how consistent he is...and that's a very good thing.

How bout the fact that Kris Joseph scored NOTHING and the Orange just beat one of the top RPI teams in the nation by 20+. Even Kris is impressed.

And now the Orange are 14-0 and make their way to their, gulp, second true road game of the season. They're off to Chicago for DePaul on Saturday. Win there and it's No. 1 for yet another week, regardless of who's impressed and who's not.
