Syracuse Orange Basketball Ranked No. 1 In AP/Coaches Polls

Well that's nice. The Syracuse Orange are the No. 1 team in the land for the fourth time ever in the new AP/Coaches Polls.

This is of course the part of the show where we mention that the polls mean nothing, especially in December. But it's the thought that counts.

In the AP Poll, Syracuse received 57 of the 65 first-place votes. Ohio State picked up seven first-place votes and came in 2nd place while Kentucky, Louisville and North Carolina all grabbed a few first-placers as well.

Ron Morris from South Carolina's The State is your most hated person in the world. He ranked the Orange No. 4 overall, the only AP voter to go so low. Folks like Seth Davis, who I'm pretty sure openly hate the BCS, sure like to use BCS logic when stating that Ohio State should be No. 1 because they would win in a theoretical match-up. Whatevs.

In the Coaches Poll, Syracuse received 28 of the 30 first-place votes with the Buckeyes grabbing two as well.

In the KenPom rankings, Syracuse is No. 5 behind Wisconsin, Kentucky, Ohio State and North Carolina. SU's SOS is the lowest of the five (244) but trails Ohio State by a mere seven points.

The Orange will put that new ranking to the test when they take their first "true" road trip of the season, heading to Raleigh to take on the North Carolina St. Wolfpack on Saturday. In the meantime, enjoy it, Orange fans.
