Syracuse vs. USF: The Battle Of Who Could Care Less

Do you not hear me anymore
I know it's not your thing to care
I know it's cool to be so bored
I sucks me in
when you're aloof
It sucks me in, it sucks it works
I guess it's cool to be alone
Will you never rest
Fighting the battle of who could care less

The Syracuse Orange (5-4) have lost their last two games, are 1-3 in the conference, and you could argue they've played only one solid game all season.

The South Florida Bulls (4-4) started the season 4-0, including a program-changing win in South Bend, only to watch the entire season go up in smoke with four-straight losses, all in the conference.

Worst of all, both teams have lost to Rutgers. Fech.

Something, as they say, will have to give when these two mega-titans of mediocrity meet on Friday night in the Dome.

Winning the Big East title is out of the question. Bowl eligibility is close and yet still feels so far away. Right now, neither team can afford to look past their next game.

After playing two schools that Doug Marrone has yet to beat, it's nice to get back to playing teams we know how to beat. The Orange topped the Bulls 13-9 in 2010, a win that moved them to 4-1 at the time and announced that the Orange were for real. It's a little late for that this year, but it is a chance for the Orange to right the ship, get back to a bowl game and move past the previous two games.

The Bulls still lead the all-time series 5-1, which is crazy. A program like SU needs to close that gap, especially since we're probably not going to be playing these guys much more in the future.

This might just be the Battle for the Beef. Assuming that either of these teams will do no better than 7-5 and might be more likely to finish 6-6, the Beef O'Brady Bowl is a likely destination for both schools. It might not look like an exciting destination for some, but it sure beats the alternative.
