Syracuse Football: Catching Up With the Commits - Checking in With the Milford Guys

Milford Academy has updated stats from a few of the games that we've been waiting on, and with the help from the incomparable OrangeEyes over at Syracusefan.com, I've been able to find a little bit about how our two commits have been playing.

In Milford's 44-0 win over Delaware Valley back on October 17th, Ashton Broyld (QB, 6'3", 225) was 2-5 for 41 yards and a touchdown, and ran the ball three times for 19 yards and a two-point conversion.  In their October 23rd 40-16 win over Wagner, Broyld had a 20 yard touchdown pass, as well as an eight yard touchdown run and another run for a two-point conversion.  Tyree Smallwood (HB, 5'10", 165), had a nice bounce-back game with eight rushes for 87 yards.  Milford won their tenth straight game of the season against Erie Community College on October 29th, with a 40-26 win.  Broyld had 68 yards rushing for two touchdowns.  When Milford posts full stats, I'll post them as soon as possible.

It should be noted that Broyld was limited over the last few games due to injury, and players will always tend to get limited plays because of how often Milford rotates its players.

Tottenville HS moved to 7-1 with a 20-6 win over Susan Wagner.  Alvin Cornelius (WR, 6'3", 190) caught four balls for 50 yards and a touchdown, and ran once for 15 yards and a touchdown.  Unfortunately for the Tots, QB Brandon Barnes was injured in the game, so Cornelius may be playing quarterback this week.

Half Hollow Hills West's (4-4) offense blew up in a 55-22 win over Copiague.  DeVante McFarlane (HB, 6'1", 195) ran six times for 55 yards and a touchdown, and caught four passes for 76 yards and two touchdowns.

Hershey dropped its second consecutive game, moving its record to 7-2.  Harold Brantley (DT, 6'3", 280) ran 17 times for 90 yards, and caught a pass for four yards on offense.

Middletown (8-1) shut out Linganore 33-0.  Ben Lewis (WR, 6'2", 185) was held to two receptions for 17 yards.  He also recorded four tackles on defense, and returned a punt for 28 yards.

Gainesville dropped to 7-2, and had its 19-game home winning streak snapped with a 21-17 loss to Madison County.  Tashon Whitehurst (LB, 6'3", 190) has made his mark primarily as a linebacker, but has begun playing fullback as well for the 'Canes.  He took his first and only carry 26 yards for a touchdown.

Leroy Owens (OLB, 6'4", 210) had his second straight 16 tackle game, but Palatka (1-7) lost once again, 17-8 to Menendez.

Woodbridge HS advanced to 5-4 with a 28-7 win over Forest Park.  Darius Parson (OLB, 6'2", 215) recorded five tackles.
