The Syracuse Orange take on the Virginia Tech Hokies tonight to decide which one will play for the NIT Season Tip Off on Friday. Before that, the Stanford Cardinal and Oklahoma St. Cowboys will battle it out first.
Stanford is 4-0 on the year, although double-digit wins over the likes of Central Arkansas, Fresno State, Colorado State and UC Davis don't come off as having quite the same luster as a win over the Cowboys and/or Orange or Hokies later this week would. Still, the Cardinal could make some noise in the Pac-12 Conference this year, if they stay healthy and the team plays at, or above its means throughout.
Oklahoma State is a perfect 3-0 on the young season, having knocked off Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Texas-San Antonio over a six-day span last week. The Cowboys come into this clash with heavy hearts following the tragic plane crash that claimed the lives of women's basketball coaches Kurt Budke and Miranda Serna. OSU could be a sleeper in the Big 12 Conference this year, but like its counterpart tonight, health and some luck will go a long way in determining the Pokes' fate.
Oklahoma State claimed victories in both previous encounters with Stanford, and this is the third straight season the two have met.
