Syracuse No. 9/No.10 In Latest Polls

I thought the Orange might drop to 12th or 13th this week after two-straight losses. It's nice to be wrong.

In the AP Poll, the Orange are tied at No. 9 in the nation with BYU. Pittsburgh, who vanquished the Orange earlier in the week, jumped all the way from No. 5 to No. 2 behind Ohio State.

Kudos to Roger Carlson of the Athens Banner-Herald who has the Orange all the way up at No. 5, two spots ahead Villanova. Methinks someone forgot to watch basketball on Saturday... Scott Mansch also puts the Orange ahead of the Wildcats at No. 6.

Orange hater of the week is John Feinstein, who puts the Orange at No. 12.

Elsewhere in the Big East, UConn is No. 5, Villanova is No. 7, Notre Dame is No. 15, Georgetown is No. 21 and Louisville is No. 23. West Virginia and Cincinnati dropped out of the rankings.

Over in the Coaches Poll, the Orange are down to the No. 10 spot. Seven Big East teams remain ranked in that one as well.

Syracuse is still No. 7 in the RPI Rankings, higher than Georgetown and Villanova.
