Syracuse Moves Up To No. 3 In AP, Coaches Polls

As we should caveat all discussions about polls and rankings, they do no matter and are arbitrary in every way.

Lo and behold, most folks actually got it right. Considering most Orange fan fully expected Duke to remain ahead of Syracuse via some form of twisted logic, it's pleasantly surprising to see that's not the case.

Syracuse moves up to No. 3 in the AP Poll this week. Ohio State is your new No. 1 while Kansas moves up to No. 2.

The Orange actually received eight first-place votes, more than Kansas (six). And of course, Duke received one first-place vote as well (Good work, Rob Morris).

Your most hated man in America? Our old friend Jon Wilner, who has Pitt No. 1, Duke No. 2 and Syracuse all the way down at No. 6.

And since he's commenting on the game tonight, it's worth noting that Dick Vitale has the Orange at No. 3, Duke No. 4.

The Coaches Poll also has the Orange at No. 3. Big East teams also ranked include No. 5 Pitt, No. 7 Villanova, No. 8 UConn, No. 15 Louisville, No. 16 Notre Dame and No. 23 Georgetown.

SU is also No. 3 in the most updated RPI Rankings behind Kansas and San Diego State.
