Syracuse Mayor Excited About Syracuse Football...Finally

Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner put her money where her BBQ ribs and beer are when she bet the mayor of Manhattan, KS over the result of the Pinstripe Bowl. She won and she'll be sharing the winnings with the good people of Syracuse during a halftime ceremony at the Cincinnati game on Saturday.

Miner will give the winnings, which includes three slabs of hickory-smoked ribs from Cox Brothers BBQ and three different beers from Tallgrass Brewing Company, to employees in the Department of Public Works. Syracuse Department of Public Works Commissioner Pete O’Connor and Superintendant of Street Cleaning and Snow and Ice Kip Culkin will accept the winnings on the Department’s behalf at halftime.

"I had no doubt New York’s college team would be victorious in the Pinstripe Bowl," Miner said. "I am proud to present my winnings from Mayor Snead to the best snowfighters in the country. They keep our City moving and working even when it seems like the snow will never stop falling."

Kind words from the mayor, though a departure from her campaign stance on Syracuse football.

(I'd scold the mayor for her words if I wasn't using them myself at the time...)

Bonus for Syracuse fans on hand at the game.

All fans attending the basketball game are invited to have their picture taken with the New Era Pinstripe Bowl trophy prior to the game in the Aspen Dental booth in the backcourt in the Carrier Dome. The trophy will be on display beginning 90 minutes before tipoff.

THANKS ASPEN DENTAL!
