"It was down to (Skip) Holtz and (Doug) Marrone," recalled Chapple while lunching at the Yarrow Bay Beach Café. "I won’t say we were divided; we were just trying to get it right. Frankly, five years from now people are either going to say, ‘What group of idiots picked this guy?’ or ‘What group of geniuses picked Marrone?’ So, we knew how important it was. "We were going around the table talking about plusses and minuses, and Art Monk finally said, ‘Well, it’s a question of whether you want a long-termer or a rock star.’ And I thought that was very well put. Because Doug bleeds orange. He’s a very passionate guy. He’s turning things around for us. The whole process showed how a group dynamic can work."
