Every year the Syracuse Basketball Sorting Hat lets us know who our OOC opponents will be in the Dome.  Sometimes it tells us interesting and intriguing match-ups with new teams.  Most of the time however he just lets us know which cupcake has make the docket.  His latest announcement (I assume the Sorting Hat is a he, which might be erroneous) is the latter.

Syracuse and Canisius will renew their rivalry when the two Upstate New York schools meet on Sunday, November 14, in the Carrier Dome.

Canisius and Syracuse have met 67 times. The Orange own a 44-24 overall edge in the series. The most recent meeting came on December 17, 2008, when Syracuse came away with an 82-60 victory.

Yes, this "rivalry" will heat up once again.  The Griffins will be the buffer between the Northen Iowa game and the beginning of the Legends Classic opening round.  They're coming off a 15-17 season in the MAAC.

Actually the Griffins used to be a common late-season game for the Orange.  As recently as 1984 they game was played in February and it wasn't too long ago that SU would travel to Canisius to play (1989). The last time the Griffins beat SU?  1975, the same year they went to the Final Four under Roy Danforth.  Go figure.
