Smallwood Hits Big Time, Commits To Syracuse

Spurning schools such as Michigan, Maryland and Cincinnati, RB Tyree Smallwood is making Syracuse his choice to come and play football next season.  SU was the first school to offer and Smallwood seemed to appreciate the gesture.  He comes to us as an ATH, which means he might end up at one of many positions that feature speed.

Smallwood, who is 5-foot-11, 173 pounds, said he is attending the school "as an athlete," meaning the school will put him in the position it feels best suits the program's needs. He thinks he still could carry the ball, but might be a safety, cornerback or wide receiver.

"I'm fine with anything, as long as I play," Smallwood said.

Smallwood tore up Section 9 for Cornwall last season, scoring 27 touchdowns and rushing for 1,549 yards on just 174 carries (8.9 YPC).
