Syracuse Beats St. John's In A Parking Lot, Wins Big East Title

via <a href=""></a>

What were the odds on Syracuse winning the inaugural Big East Conference lacrosse title?  1-100?  1-10,000?  Off the board?  Certainly it would be one of the least-profitable bets you could make and the Orange made good on that with their 15-7 win over St. John's on Saturday.

The Syracuse University men’s lacrosse team has stated its case. It is now the job of the NCAA Tournament selection committee to judge it on its merits and decided where the Orange is seeded when the 16-team field is announced Sunday night.

In that regard, Saturday’s dominating 15-7 Big East victory Saturday afternoon over St. John’s before a crowd of 1,508 that was mostly in orange at DaSilva Memorial Stadium was almost an afterthought. As has been its habit for most of the season, Syracuse came out flying and led 5-2 after one quarter. It has outscored its foes 51-15 in the period for the season. It never let up until head coach John Desko emptied his bench midway through the third quarter.

St. John's is an up-and-coming program for the conference and one of the areas they might want to focus on is their field, which appears to be located in Lot G on LaGuardia Airport (via Tim R.) Check out a boatload of photos from the game here courtesy of Gregg M. and some more from Tim.

The Orange are the only team to end the season undefeated in conference play.  Georgetown finished in 2nd while Providence remains winless in Big East play.
