For charity! (What did you think I meant?)

The eighth annual Sitrin Celebrity Classic Wheelchair Basketball Game, featuring Syracuse University’s Andy Rautins, will take place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the New Hartford High School gymnasium.

A team of local celebrities will compete against athletes from the Sitrin STARS (Success Through Adaptive Recreation and Sports) program.

According to the website, the game will feature "two challenging and often hilarious 20-minute halves."  Hilarious is code for SPILLS & THRILLS!

For those who always wanted to know, who would win in a wheelchair basketball game, Andy Rautins or Josh Wright, your day has come.  Wright, billed as a "former Thomas R. Proctor High School star" will be participating as well.  The rest of the players is a veritable who's who of local celebrities including Symeon Tsoupelis Jr. from Symeon’s Greek Restaurant, Rheumatologist Dr. Martin Morel and Christian Faustmann from Best Buy.  I'm assuming Christian actually works for Best Buy and wasn't just chosen at random while shopping for Paul Blart Mall Cop on Blu-Ray there.

Tickets are $5.00 ($3.00 for students) and Andy will be on hand for autographs and photos after the game. If you want to order some tix, call Marc DePerno at (315) 737-2459.
