We've been hearing Trevor Cooney's name for a while now in the 2011 basketball recruit market. Get used to it cause you're going to be in the Dome screaming Coooooooooneeeeeeeeey for a few years to come.
"Syracuse was the school I visited the most,’’ Cooney said. "Everytime I went up there, I tried to get a feel for what it would be like. The last time I was up there I tried to picture what it would be like for me there.’’
Cooney and his parents attended Syracuse’s game against Marquette on Jan. 23. That was when he made his decision to pick Syracuse.
Cooney said he gave Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim a verbal commitment this week.
"I think it was where I felt the most comfortable,’’ Cooney said. "I felt like I had a good relationship with the coaches at Syracuse.’’
Cooney is a 6-foot-4, 185-pound guard rated as a Top 50 recruit by multiple rankings. As for what kind of player he sees himself becoming...
"I’d like to be a combo-guard kind of like Andy Rautins is now,’’ Cooney said. "Hopefully, I can continue to get better and add to my game.’’
Do that, Trevor. Oh, and, kid's got some hops...
