JUST IN TIME: Syracuse avoids overtime repeat against Huskies, closing out conference rival in game's final minute - Sports
Syracuse pulled out a last-minute win over Connecticut, 72-67, in front of 24,847 at the Carrier Dome Wednesday night. Syracuse (24-1, 11-1 Big East) blew a lead as large as 16 but hit seven free throws in the final 34 seconds to seal the game against a pesky Connecticut (14-10, 4-7 Big East) squad.

Was the timeout awarded correctly? | Hoops Blog
It does look like, though, that Boeheim called a timeout before the shot, which means the timeout may have just been awarded late. The referee, John Cahill, may have just had a late whistle. It’s a tough thing to see on television, as the angle is not great. If you’re a Syracuse fan, you love the call. If you are a UConn fan, you hate the call.

SU-UConn Recap | The Axeman - Brent Axe -
The expression "find a way to win" is an over used one in sports, but this Syracuse team is the living, breathing, vivid example of that cliche. They "found a way" to beat UConn and it was a King Tut like find as it was as rare a way for Syracuse to win a game as they come.

Syracuse's Jim Boeheim offers praise for UConn's Jim Calhoun; Huskies pound Orange on boards; SU and UConn save on t-shirts | Orange Basketball Blog -
"I thought their kids just played great,’’ Boeheim continued. "But missing a coach the caliber of Jim Calhoun, people don’t mention him that much when they talk about great coaches, but he’s done more in taking a program from the Yankee Conference to the top of college basketball than anybody else has ever done at any school. If you look at all the great programs, they were great before their coaches got there. He’s done an unbelievable job at Connecticut."

Clutch Cuse: Syracuse makes key free throws to withstand UConn rally | Orange Basketball Blog -
"This late in a season, to not be in a tie game with two minutes to go, is unusual,’’ Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim said. "I thought we responded down the stretch well.’’

Johnson-to-Joseph keeps fooling opposing defenses | Orange Basketball Blog -
Wes Johnson simply channels his inner Peyton Manning. "I just watch his techniques," Johnson said. "I saw the read, he went long and I completed it."

The reason this ended up being a close game was clearly rebounding. Final tally: Huskies 42-39. Second Half: Huskies 26-14.

Three Idiots on Sports: Huskies Mushed - Syracuse - UConn Observations
The Syracuse Orange moved to a school record 24-1 with a slugly (sloppy + ugly = slugly) 72-67 win over the hated UConn Huskies in the Carrier Dome.

Orange::44: Connecticut - Syracuse Postgame Reactions OR That's Good Enough
Just great. It hasn't been but a few hours and UConn fans are already complaining about that time out call that John Cahill gave to the Orange. Yes, I'll get to it. And as a former referee it will be an explanation that makes sense. But overall you have to be happy that Syracuse won this game.

The Saltine Warriors: TIMEOUT! Cuse-UConn Postgame Thoughts
We hang on to get a nice win in a game that should have been a blowout, along with the pleasure of listening to Huskies fans whine about a controversial call for the next year (or at least until this year's BE Tourney, should we meet up).

In the end, welts and all, Andy Rautins was there to lead No. 2 Syracuse to its 24th win | Bud Poliquin -
"I knew they were going to be physical," he said. "I mean, (Jerome) Dyson face-guarded me the entire game. And when I did get a little open . . . you saw their bigs. They back-sided me when I tried to go through a couple of screens. They know that if I get open and get open looks, that opens the floodgates a little bit. But we find other ways to score."

Stop, thief! Syracuse 72, UConn 67 - The UConn Blog
And that should about wrap up UConn's NCAA Tournament hopes in a nice little box, to be sent away to some Atlantic 10 team that would be under .500 with our schedule. No, I'm not bitter or anything.

Ballin' is a Habit: So did UConn actually get screwed against Syracuse?
From my perspective, it appears pretty clear that the timeout was awarded after Robinson had possession of the ball.
