As always we should preface this by saying POLLS DO NOT MATTER.
That said, we're back in the Top 5!!!
Thanks to a week that included a reputation-altering win over Michigan State and a 100% Dome-ination of Colgate, the Orange jumped from No. 8 to No. 5 in the AP. A big reason for the jump? All of the non-believers from previous weeks who were leaving the Orange off their ballot are now true believers. The lowest SU appears this week is at No. 10 courtesy of the awesomely-named Whitelaw Reid of The Daily Progress. He's also got Baylor at No. 3 and San Diego State at No. 7 so, he's got a lot of stuff going on.
Scott Reid of the Orange Country Register is your super-believer of the week. He's got the Orange at No. 3 AND he doesn't rank Georgetown to boot.
As for the coaches poll, they bump the Orange up from No. 7 to No. 5 as well.
Elsewhere in the Big East, ranked teams include UConn (4/4), Pitt (8/8), Villanova (10/11), Georgetown (15/13), Louisville (20/21) and Notre Dame (24/23). West Virginia and Cincy also received votes.
