Syracuse has made it to the Pinstripe Bowl in spite of all the injuries they've suffered along the way. Now, as the game itself approaches, that old, familiar feeling is starting creep back in.
We know Rob Long is going to miss the bowl game already and now we know that starting safety Max Suter will miss the game as well.
Marrone...reported that the Orange...will be without starting strong safety Max Suter. The senior will require surgery on an injured right shoulder and will miss the game.
Suter, who made an immediate impact as a true freshman kick returner – taking one 93 yards for a touchdown in an upset of Louisville – was a mainstay in the Orange secondary over the last three seasons. Sharing time this season with sophomore Shamarko Thomas, Suter made 44 tackles and forced two fumbles.
Suter missed the last three games of the regular season with a broken arm. It's a huge loss for the secondary and a real bummer for the senior who suffered through some pretty terrible seasons to get here.
The Orange at least learned they'll only lose one member of the secondary as Da'Mon Merkerson will return from minor knee surgery.
Tough break for Suter, who provided some great work as a kick returner early in his career and as an anchor of the defensive backfield later on.
