Real Orange Heroes: Lindsey Conrad

The Big East Conference Field Hockey Championships took place on Sunday between the UConn Huskies (15-4) and the Syracuse Orange (14-4). At stake for the Orange was the chance to win their second championship title in the last three years and fifth overall as well as complete the Big East season with their eighth consecutive win.

Being played at UConn, where the Huskies were 9-0 this season, victory was no sure thing.

At the 30:40 mark, All-American Martina Loncarica fired the ball up to two-time All-American Lindsey Conrad  who spun around and beat the UConn goalie to make it a 1-0 game. In a pitcher's duel, that would be enough as the Orange went on to win the game with that lone goal, clinching the Big East crown.

Conrad was named Big East Champion Most Outstanding Player for her efforts. The senior is SU’s career leader in goals with 46

As Big East champs, the Orange have an automatic bid into the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship. Play begins November 13th.

Here's to you, Lindsey Conrad. A Real Orange Hero.
