Juli Boeheim is the best. I think we can all agree on that. She and Jimmy B have been married now for 13 years and she's as much a part of Syracuse's community as her husband. Coach's wife, philanthropist, mom and the No. 1 reason you buy a new mattress every year:
Juli sat down for an interview with the National Association of Basketball Coaches Wives to talk about what it's like being married to a head coach and what her life is like. She also perfectly sums up what it was like for Jim Boeheim to finally win a National Title in 2003.
Being there on that floor after winning the Championship. I was bustling in my seat to get my arms around my husband's neck to say "How do you feel?" And here I am jumping up and down. He's always calm, cool and collected. I hear him say "Relieved, let's go home."
A good lesson for all you SU fans out there. If the Orange lose, don't take it out on Juli:
Insecurities show after a loss. I don't really want to go anywhere. I put my cap on, and just lay low. Not that people say anything, but I feel almost a sense of responsibility to be home.
Juli also drops some news on us. When asked what her favorite basketball-related destination was, she went with a place we're apparently returning to:
Maui. We played in the Rainbow Classic there. To be in Hawaii with the team was so much fun. We are going back to Maui in 2013. So our kids will also get to enjoy it.
Never too early to book your flights, people.
