Everybody run down to your local AmeriCU Credit Union and say thanks. Midnight Madness is back:
"Midnight Madness," presented by TK99 and TK105 and sponsored by AmeriCU Credit Union, is back and will take place in the Carrier Dome on Friday, October 22, 2010. Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. with the event scheduled to get underway at 7:30 p.m. A limited number of tickets will be available starting Wednesday, October 13 at various locations.
You know the drill. Expect to see the women's basketball team, the men's basketball team, lots of arbitrary drills and then dunks, dunks, dunks. And there's also going to be a dance contest, which frightens and delights me at the same time.
But wait, that's not all! Did somebody mentioned GRAMMY-AWARD WINNING LIVE MUSIC???
The event will open with the Grammy-award winning, platinum-album selling New Jersey super group Naughty by Nature at 7:30 p.m. The Harlem Wizards will bring their "Trick Hoopz and Alley Oops" program to the Dome as well that night. Singer Marcus Canty, who performed at Showtime at the Appollo is also slated to appear.
Naughty by Nature is a "super group?" When did this happen? Is that just what happens when you're together for 20 years, you automatically go from being a group to a super group? I'm a child of the early 90's. Naughty By Nature was in my wheelhouse. Lots of good crowd songs to choose from...O.P.P., Hip Hop Hooray. Personally, I go with Uptown Anthem as their best song and I've decided that's not up for debate.
Everyone will enjoy this. Hands will be waved in the air as though the person waving them is not concerned about said action. People will be asked to say "Ho!" and they will agree with this idea and reply by repeating "Ho!"
As for Marcus Canty, well, I have absolutely no idea who that is. He is not in my wheelhouse.
Harlem Wizards? Fun! Nice to see they're taking time from their busy schedule of middle school appearances to oop it up for SU.
Tickets will be available the Dome and Schine but also at local AmeriCU branches. You already love hanging out at your local AmeriCU branch so that works out perfect. You love it there.
