Cause you see, LA is short for Louisiana, and when combined with Brumbaugh, it kinda sounds like La Bamba...oh forget it.

Donnie Webb noted today that the Orange have filled one of the three vacancies in their coaching department.  Louisiana Tech's Jimmy Brumbaugh is the new SU defensive line coach

Brumbaugh, 33, coached two seasons at Tech after previously serving two seasons as assistant strength and conditioning coordinator at LSU. Brumbaugh is a 2003 graduate of Auburn where he played defensive tackle from 1995-1999.

According to Jimmy's bio, LA Tech's defense ranked 13th in the country against the run in 2008, allowing only 103.9 yards per game.  That's good.  Before LSU, Brumbaugh also coached the D-line at Tennessee-Chattanooga and Jacksonville State.

His coaching experience combined with his college choice and hometown (Gainesville) makes him an attractive recruiting tool as well.  The South shall rise again...all the way up to Central New York.  Where it will play football.

Best of all, Brumbaugh kinda sorta sounds like Rudabaugh, which allows me to add this quote from Dennis Quaid's Doc Holliday in "Wyatt Earp"

Dave Rutabaugh is an ignorant scoundrel! I disapprove of his very existence. I considered ending it myself on several occasions but self-control got the better of me.

We here at SU approve of Brumbaugh's existence.  For now.
