Syracuse went into Saturday as one of only two the only school in the nation with undefeated men's and women's basketball teams.  They'll wake up on Sunday with none.

You already know the men's team suffered their first defeat of the year against Pitt 82-72 but the women's team helped SU hit the exacta by losing 83-81 in overtime to Georgetown.

Other than trailing 5-4 early in the game, the Hoyas led throughout regulation play, consistently pushing their lead up to six or seven points every time SU made it a one possession game. But with 2 seconds remaining, Syracuse senior Nicole "Slinky" Michael was fouled on a 3-point attempt and calmly made three straight free throws to send the game into overtime.

In the 5-minute extra session, the Orange grabbed a 2-point lead at 81-79 on a layup by freshman Kayla Alexander before Adria Crawford tied it with two foul shots with 1:19 remaining. That set the stage for Rodgers, who drove the lane with 20 seconds remaining and tossed in the game-winner. Syracuse's Erica Morrow attempted a 3-pointer at the buzzer, but it bounced off the rim.

The women dropped to 12-1 and 0-1 in the Big East.  Despite the disappointment, the untested Orange did prove they can hang with the 12-2 Hoyas, and the upper tier of the Big East in general (except maybe UConn).

So in case you're keeping track...

Syracuse basketball in Nov-Dec 2009: 25-0

Syracuse basketball in 2010: 0-2

We have to go back.

We have to go back, Kate.

WE HAVE TO GO BAAAAACK!!!
