Canada stands on the brink of elimination in the FIBA Americas Championships.  The only thing keeping them afloat...Andy Rautins and His Goblet Of Fire.  Or just Andy, no idea about any goblets.

The Canadians were thumped on Wednesday by Brazil 68-59, pushing them to the edge.  Andy Rautins clocked in with a mere two points and five assists.  Obviously, the cause of the loss and the many before it due to the lack of time Andy has had the ball in his hands.

Finally, with the chance to play in Turkey on the line, Leo wised up.  Andy dropped 23 and was 5-of-7 from beyond the arc in 20 minutes of PT as Canada bounced back, defeating Panama 97-65 on Thursday

The Canadians only control half of their destiny at this point.  They face the Dominican Republic today in their final game of their quarter-final round. A win over the Dominicans, combined with an Uruguay loss to Argentina, would give Canada a spot in the FIBA America semis, not to mention the 2010 world championships.

Either way, Andy will be back in time for March Midnight Madness (Ed Note: I'm an idiot), which is slated for Friday, October 16th according to Mike Waters. Since Manley Field House is in the process of being converted and the Melo Center isn't up to snuff for this sort of thing, the event will move to the Carrier Dome for the first time.  Calendars...commence marking.
