Team Canada committed 23 (!!!) turnovers yesterday in their 67-51 loss to Argentina in the opening game of the FIBA Americas quarterfinals. Andy Rautins seemingly disappeared from the offense, scoring three points and adding two assists. He did however add two of those many turnovers to the pile. That's not many, but in the eyes of Angry Leo, he might as well have committed all of them.
Up next for the Canucks is Brazil, who happens to be undefeated. Not looking good.
The FIBA Americas Championship quarter-finals run until Friday, with the top four teams at the tournament advancing to the 2010 FIBA World Championship in Turkey. Canada has three more games to be played and will probably need to win all three if they want to advance. But don't tell that to SUAthletics.com, who think Canada is out of the tournament for good already. That or they really, really don't like their chances.
