It's Legends Day! And that means we're all here to honor Coach Dick MacPherson. Steward of the undefeated 1987 Syracuse football team! Restorer of Syracuse football to glory! Hater of all things Methodist!
I suppose that makes it a little weird to have "those damn Methodists coming from Northwestern" across the field this weekend. Then again, it makes winning this game that much more vital. To once and for all crush Methodism in all forms. As The Saltine Warrior would have wanted.
But we're not just here to worship at the alter of MacPherson. There are other legends who need our undivided attention:
The latest NCAA Championship banner for the Orange men’s lacrosse team will be raised to the Carrier Dome rafters on Saturday, Sept. 19. The banner unveiling will take place at halftime of the Northwestern football game and is one several events the lacrosse program and Orange Club have scheduled for its alumni weekend to celebrate the team’s latest national championship.
Said events include a golf tournament at Turning Stone's golf course on Friday and a banquet celebration at the Casino to follow. Members of the team will be on the Quad before the game on Saturday to sign autographs and fire lacrosse balls at 90 mph at your face.
Speaking of fun festivities on the Quad, SU Athletics has spared no expense in offering you a little bit of luxury with your Dome Dog.
Syracuse Athletics and Syracuse ISP Sports are partnering with Burdick Lexus to present the Orange Club Donor tent on the University Quad prior to every home football game. Lexus is the official luxury vehicle of the Orange Club Donor Tent. Orange Club members are encouraged to visit the Lexus display inside the Orange Club pre-game hospitality tent in the Football Family Fun Zone on the University Quad for an up-close look at the Lexus luxury vehicle and to learn more about Lexus vehicles.
Fun! And I can think of no better target demo for luxury automobiles than college students and fans who are only there cause tickets cost $15.
