We already know that weakside linebacker has been the Spinal Tap drummer of Syracuse football positions this year, but we figured at this point the spontaneous combustion was behind us. Turns out, we're still right in the thick of it.
Syracuse University starting outside linebacker Ryan Gillum will miss the Penn State game because of an injury, Orange head football coach Doug Marrone said on his weekly radio program Wednesday night.
E.J. Carter is expected to take Gillum's spot though many SU fans would rather see freshman Iron Brandon Sharpe in there given his all-around performance last weekend. Carter did see action at WLB last week as well, so expect to see some sharing.
Gillum had six tackles, 2nd best on the day, including five solo and two for a loss of yards against Minnesota. Carter registered one tackle.
