Breaking: Greg Paulus can actually still throw a football! We have proof!
Greg Paulus: Football Practice |
So..now that we know he can actually grip, pivot and throw, what is your tremendous standpoint on the situation, Lord Marrone?
"I'm impressed with Ryan Nassib, now," Marrone said. "He's worked extremely hard. He looks good. He looks much better than he did in the spring. And Greg looks good for a guy that hasn't played.
"This is going to be an interesting situation."
Whoa, whoa, whoa...who the *%$& is Ryan Nassib?
Oh...right.
Nassib will not go quietly into the night, and why should he? It's still his job to lose, technically-speaking. Working against him is time. Every day that passes, Paulus gets a little better, his passes get crisper and his skills get sharpened. That Marrone isn't planning on making a decision until "nine or 10 days before the Sept. 5 opener" works in Paulus' favor mightily.
In other camp news, freshman Brandon Sharpe is now a defensive end, a move we can assume is meant to make up for the recent defections from the position.
Whereas Mike Williams has quickly re-established himself as the go-to threat, a 2nd WR threat has yet to emerge for Marrone:
"I told Coach (Rob) Spence (SU's offensive coordinator) today, we have to find another play-maker. We do. I'm not going to lie. We've got to find someone else that can make plays, whether it's Donte Davis or whether it's (Da'Mon) Merkerson, whoever it may be. Someone's got to step up and make plays. We can't always just throw the ball to Mike Williams."
Is Ernie Davis Field at The Carrier Dome coming? So says Donnie Webb who says DOCTOR Gross says so.
Looks like Syracuse might be naming the football field after Orange Heisman Trophy winner Ernie Davis. Gross confirmed something's in the works ("most likely," he said) and added details would be coming soon. Watchdogs over at Syracusefan.com caught Gross on in-house video saying it would be called "Ernie Davis Legends Field."
