2009 Projections: It's not looking good for Lowery. He's fourth on the nose tackle depth chart behind Arthur Jones, Bud Tribbey and Ollie Haney.
How'd He Get Here: Jarel was force his junior year, registering 50 tackles, six sacks and three forced fumbles. He was named first-team all-league, all-county and second-team all-area. His senior year was even better, as he garnered 63 tackles, 9.5 sacks, 12 pass deflections, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. He was a second-team all-state, first-team Herald News All-Area and All-Passaic selection. Jarel had a few offers on the table including Maryland, North Carolina and Wake Forest. In the end he chose Syracuse. After clearing up some academic issues, he was a part of the team last season.
What did Scout/Rivals Say?:Scout rated Lowery a 2-star DT and the 23rd-best prospect in New Jersey. Rivals agreed on the two-star rating.
