DaShonte Signs DaLetter

I know, DaShonte Riley has been committed to Syracuse for a while now.  But it doesn't mean anything until the papers are signed, faxed, copied and saved in a manila folder on Jim Boeheim's desk.  And that's what's happened today...presumably.

DaShonte Riley, a 6-foot-11 senior at Detroit Country Day School, has signed his National Letter of Intent to play at Syracuse University.

Syracuse University officials announced that the school had received Riley's letter of intent on Monday afternoon.

If Brandon Triche is the future (or possibly now) of Syracuse's backcourt, Riley is the future of it's frontcourt.  At 6'11" he's got the height and at 220 he's ready to start packing on the muscle needed to compete in the Big East.  DaShonte was recently pegged as the 58th best incoming recruit in the nation by ESPN, while Rivals ranked him 123rd overall and Scout put him at 57th.  Two out of three ain't bad.

Since SU doesn't have to worry about running out of scholarships now (Thanks Jonny), the current scholarship roster looks a little like this:

Guards: Scoop Jardine, Andy Rautins, Brandon Triche

Forwards: Rick Jackson, Wes Johnson, Mookie Jones, Kris Joseph, James Sutherland

Centers: Arinze Onuaku, Sean Williams, DaShonte Riley
