This broke last week but it bears making note of since it's such a huge win for SU football. Ever since the Governors Bowl, which pitted top high school players from New York against those from New Jersey, went belly up, folks have been looking for a replacement. They seem to have found one and it will be taking place inside the Carrier Dome.
"With big help from Syracuse coach Doug Marrone, there will now be an Upstate vs. Downstate All-Star game, which will be held in the summer at the Carrier Dome."
Orange Fizz calls it "the biggest win of Marrone's tenure" and considering the inroads that Marrone needed to make to win back Northeastern recruiting, it might just be. The game is set to be played on June 6th and will feature a team made up of "Upstate" stars versus "Downstate" stars. Whatever the breakdown is, it means there's going to be 100 notable high school football players getting to see what it's like to play in the Carrier Dome. Marrone and his staff can't be hands-on for this event, but they don't need to be.
