Akron...We Meet Again

If Syracuse plays Akron 1,000 times, how many times do you expect to win?

There's two ways to answer that question.  The first one, is the kind we do not want to hear.

"I don't know...I think that that's...we expect to win a lot more than we lose."

The second way, is what we do want to hear.

"I expect 1,000."

If DOCTOR Gross has done anything correctly in his time here in regards to Syracuse football, it is the way he answered that question (the 2nd way in case you didn't know).  The guy who answered that question the first way?  He's no longer with us.

That question was posed during the ESPN Gameday piece on the horrors of Syracuse football that aired last year.  Nothing has changed.  Even at 2-4, there's no doubt in every Syracuse fans' mind that the Orange should and better defeat Akron.  Especially 1-5 Akron.

Donnie writes today about how the Akron loss last season said everything you needed to know about the Greg Robinson Era and it's demise.

If there was one game last season that sealed Greg Robinson's fate, it was the loss to Akron. Even though it was the second game of the season, Robinson and Syracuse absolutely could not afford a loss in the home opener to the Zips. Not only did Syracuse lose, but it let Akron score the final 14 points in the fourth quarter.

It seems strange to think of this as a revenge game but...it is.  Say what you like but you know you want Syracuse to ram it down Akron's throat to pay for last season's transgression. I'm sure the players feel the same way.

At the very least, let's make sure our kickoffs go better than they did last year.  Otherwise this guy's liable to strangle someone.
