Syracuse police and the Onondaga District Attorney's Office are in the very early stages of an investigation involving current members of the SU football squad. CBS5 has learned the investigation involves allegations of sexual misconduct of as many as four members of the football team. The alleged victim is a female student at SU who claims the sexual assault took place in the players' apartment late Monday night into early Tuesday morning. Syracuse police were contacted about the allegations. Trusted sources tell CBS5 the four players accused in the incident gave statements to Syracuse police voluntarily. No charges have been filed against any Syracuse University football players.Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. Unfortunately, more to come...
Now we contacted Syracuse University officials regarding the investigation. No one in the athletic department called us back or responded to our e-mails. Earlier this week University spokesman Kevin Morrow preferred that all questions about this matter be sent to the police department. In fact, he just called us a few minutes ago and deferred us to wait for a statement from the Syracuse Police and we will keep you posted of that.
