Greatest Syracuse-Related Moments In Movie History - #7

If you buy something from an SB Nation link, Vox Media may earn a commission. See our ethics statement.

As we always do, let's recap:

#10 - Deleted Scene from Anchorman
#9 - Larry Csonka's Kenneth Branagh-esque performance in SnakeEater
#8 - Syracuse interest in recruiting Tom Cruise in All The Right Moves

And now let's get on to the #7 Greatest Syracuse-Related Moment in Movie History. The movies that are already on this list are all purely about entertainment. But where's the message? Where's the heart? Sometimes you don't just want a soulless Hollywood confection that turns your brain into mush. Sometimes you want to learn something. Become a better person for having watched the film.

If there's anything that Movie #7 is, it's a learning experience. For instance, before watching I was convinced that telling the authorities about the nefarious doings of those around me was a noble cause, worthy of praise by my associates, cohorts and acquaintances. But now, because of this film, I know the truth about "snitching" and I'm a better person for it. And for the first time on the countdown, we even have the specific scene in question to show you!

The possibly award-winning documentary Stop Snitching! was notable for the appearance of Carmelo Anthony (seen above), in one of the first items to make his ever-growing "Dumb Things Carmelo Anthony Did Without Stopping To Think About It First" list. The Stop Snitchin' movement, which was hailed by some and vilified by the other 99.9% of the population, suddenly made headlines and turned SU alum Anthony into a DVD sensation. He wasn't just a basketball player and businessman. Now he was a basketball player, businessman AND an Antisnitchologist. Talk about a triple-threat.

Sadly, despite the cliffhanger ending of the first one, the sequel failed to answer all of the questions left behind. What happened to Carmelo's character? Did he snitch after all? What the hell was that four-toed statue and what does it have to do with anything? Unless they ever complete the trilogy, we may never know.

See you tomorrow for the #6 GSRMIMHimmie.
