The Midwest Hasn't Been Very Kind To SU Alums

They say its hard out here for a pimp. The same can be said of Syracuse athletics alums trying to make it in the unforgiving world of professional sports.

To say Demetris Nichols year has been a roller-coaster would be an understatement. Drafted by Portland, traded to the Knicks, dangled over Europe, waived by the Knicks, signed by the Cavs, waived by the Cavs, signed by the Bulls, sent to Iowa in the D-League, called up by the Bulls...and once again Demetris
will be returning to the D-League.

General manager John Paxson confirmed that Nichols, who has only appeared in four games for the Bulls and has yet to score a point, will be sent back down once the current road trip ends. The way this is going, don't be surprised if G-Mac and Nichols aren't lording over the most powerful basketball force in all of Latvia together soon.

Things haven't been much easier for former SU QB Perry Patterson. You may remember the trials tribulations of Mr. Eagle-For-A-Day last year. Well his current stint with the Columbus Destroyers lasted only slightly longer as he was waived yesterday to make room for former Ohio State quarterback Justin Zwick. Patterson had signed with the team over the weekend.

Donnie Webb reports that Patterson apparently flunked a physical (after he was signed?) but likely the fact that the team could bring in a hometown tOSU boy played a big role in the decision as well.
Does Lativa have a football team as well?
