Syracuse 2, DePaul 0

The men's team finished what the women's team started and Syracuse beat DePaul last night 60-55 in what would be termed an "ugly win." Considering the state of SU basketball, I better not hear anyone complaining.

Impressively, the Orange won with basically a six-man rotation (Justin Thomas logged one minute), an off-night by Donte Greene and Jonny Flynn, a 1-13 team shooting performance from three-point range, giving up eleven steals and committing 14 turnovers altogether. The big reason? Arinze Onuaku. 22 points, 10-13 from the field, 9 rebounds and a ferocious tenacity (who am I, Marv Albert?) that willed the Orange to gut out the win in the 2nd half.

Donte had a pedestrian 14 points off of 4-15 shooting while Jonny Flynn only mustered 6 points. Paul Harris was the only other Orange in double-figures with ten points.

Kristof! added 9 rebounds and he also officially entered the "OH DEAR GOD NO!!! DON'T SHOOT THE THREE!!!" club along side Elvir Ovcina. Welcome, Big K, we needed some more agita in our lives.

Scoop Jardine had 0 points, 0 assists, 0 rebounds, shot 0-0 from the floor and logged 0 minutes. Oh right...

Nice little bonus, the win was the 765th of Jim Boeheim's career, which puts him at 10th all-time in Division I. He's tied with Jim Calhoun, who has immediately scheduled Central Connecticut State for a double-header tonight so he can get back in front.

The Orange get a couple days to rest before heading to Villanova on Saturday. The Orange will try to return the favor of beating the Wildcats on their home court,
Nova beat SU 81-71 in Syracuse a few weeks back. The Cats have since lost three in a row, including that shocker to Rutgers.
