Everyone Remembers Their First Time

For the first time in the history of the program, the Syracuse women's basketball team is nationally ranked. They enter the poll at #24.

While the win over Villanova certainly pushed them over the edge, it was their loss to UConn that probably made this possible, oddly enough.

However, not one to rest on his laurels,
Coach Hillsman isn't done just yet:

"First thing you do is when you get in these positions, find a way to stay there," said Syracuse coach Quentin Hillsman, who can turn to men's coach Jim Boeheim for advice. "He's ranked every year. I'll definitely go back to him and talk to him about a few things."

Keep this up, Q, and Jimmy might be coming to you for pointers soon.

UConn remains #1 in the poll after their scare against the Orange. SU is the only team to get within 20 points of the Huskies when the final buzzer sounded. Round One went to UConn but you get the sense that Round Two will be forthcoming.
The two teams don't play again in the regular season but there's always the Big East Tournament, if not the NCAA Tournament as well.

The Orange will begin their time as a ranked team against St. John's (10-7, 1-3) before a tough match-up with once-ranked DePaul (13-4, 2-2).
