While the men's team enters a stretch of uncertainty, the women's team continues to solidify their place as an elite team this season. Their 69-66 win over DePaul last night was a thrilling victory over a ranked-team that proved the Orange can finish when they have to.
Syracuse secured the win when junior guard Chandrea Jones nabbed a rebound and made the putback with just 12 seconds remaining. A free throw by sophomore forward Nicole Michael with two ticks on the clock gave the Orange a three-point advantage and DePaul sophomore guard Sam Quigley missed the game-tying, full-court shot as time ran out.
The Orange improve to 17-3, the best start in program history and (probably more important), they are 5-2 in the conference. It was also their first win against a ranked opponent since 2003.

Ranked #22 at the moment, the women's team will likely remain in the rankings, especially if they can beat Georgetown (11-8, 1-5) on the road this Saturday. Judging by their recent performances, it shouldn't be a problem.
