The NBA Can't Handle Syracuse Alums

Gerry can't catch a break. Demetris is in his third jersey in as many months. The one truth that seemed to come out of the 2007-2008 NBA season when it came to Syracuse players was that Darryl "Mookie" Watkins was going to get a shot on the Kings all season. Alas...

In a somewhat surprising move, the Sacramento Kings released Darryl Watkins, a rookie center out of Syracuse University, on Monday. The Kings made the move to create roster space for
swingman Dahntay Jones. Watkins had played in nine games for the Kings. He had averaged only 1.3 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.

Watkins is currently on waivers so any NBA team can grab him at the moment. If no one bites, it's off to free agency. Hopefully he'll get a second chance rather than have to test the waters of the NBDL so soon.
