Cornholed

Syracuse basketball, all about the...frontcourt?

Arinze Onuaku scored 18 and grabbed 6 rebounds while Kristof! Ongenaut provided a workmanlike 9 points, 10 boards and 3 blocks as the
Orange defeated Cornell 80-64 last night. Oh sure, Jonny Flynn had 21 points to lead the way but the story of the evening was what went down beneath the rim.

Syracuse outscored Cornell 58-22 in the paint. The defense also proved once again that if you can't hit the three, you don't have a good shot against them, holding the Big Red to 5-for-15 from three-point-range.

Absent from the top of the scoring list was Donte Greene. Greene had an off night with 11 points but still managed to get a double-double with his 10 rebounds. See full game stats
here.

The big news of the evening though...Gerry was back in the house. Gerry even made an appearance on the Kiss Cam (with his wife, I assume, and not with Boeheim) and received his share of appreciation.
Axeman guesses that we can expect to see much more of Gerry in the Dome within the next few years, especially once Mike Hopkins takes over. Let's hope there aren't too many more trips to Greece in the interim.
