The Best 5-8 Team In The Land

The preseason men's lacrosse rankings are in and Syracuse has landed at #11. Not too shabby for a team that didn't make the postseason last year.

The Orange are coming off a 5-8 season but return eight starters including preseason All-Americans Mike Leveille, Steven Brooks and Dan Hardy. Leveille led the Orange in scoring last year as an attackman and looks to be the leader of the offense again, even if looking at the bottom half of his face will turn you into stone.

Defending national champion Johns Hopkins earned the top spot while the ACC dominates the rest of the top six. Georgetown is the only other non-ACC team in there at #4. As for how Syracuse's opponents rank, here's the rundown:

Villanova UNR
Army #23
Virginia #3
Georgetown #4
Johns Hopkins #1
Binghamton UNR
Hobart UNR
Loyola #16
Princeton #8
Cornell #7
Rutgers UNR
Albany #12
UMass #20
Colgate #21

Well, you can't say the lacrosse team shares the same scheduling criticism the basketball team faces. Yikes.
