Tulane was hoping to erase the effects of its loss to New Orleans by at least splitting a two-game trip to Upstate New York. After their loss to Buffalo on Thursday,65-51, they will have to do it the hard way.
David Gomez leads the team in scoring at 13.4 points per game and also grabs 5.6 rebounds a game while Robinson Louisme leads the team with 6.2 boards/game. Kevin Sims leads the team in assists (5/game) and steals (2.2/game).
For the Orange, this seems like a great test to see if they can begin fixing their defense, or in fact start playing defense altogether. The team gave up the most points they've ever given up in the Dome on Wednesday. Don't expect a repeat but the Orange will need to find their rhythm defensively if they want to keep Tulane under 85.
Offensively, there isn't much to complain about. As a team, the Orange have shot 50% or better four of six times this season. Donte Greene is second in the Big East in scoring (20.5 ppg). Paul Harris ranks second in rebounding (10.5 rpg). Jonny Flynn is second in assists per game (6.5). Arinze Onuaku ranks fourth in field goal percentage (60.4 pct).
Prediction: Syracuse 88, Tulane 80
