Big Easthursday

With the early start to the football weekend, let's make some predictions...

Louisville (5-4, 2-2) at #6 West Virginia (7-1, 2-1)

Last year, West Virginia vs. Louisville had BCS implications. This year, the good folks from the Papajohns.com Bowl are keeping a keen eye on things. That may be an overstatement, it still has BCS implications for West Virginia who can control their own destiny by winning out. Louisville meanwhile is trying to save face on an extremely disappointing season. A win here doesn't erase the troubling losses before this, but it certainly helps them go down better. Alas...

Prediction:
West Virginia 38, Louisville 24

Rutgers (5-4, 2-3) at Army (3-6)

Overshadowed by Louisville's failures is the disappointment of Rutger's season. At 5-4, they'll make a bowl but barely. Not what they were hoping for when they were nationally ranked to start the season. They have a somewhat favorable schedule the rest of the way out but no game more so than this one.

Prediction:
Rutgers 41, Army 14

#16 UConn (8-2, 4-0) at Cincinnati (7-2, 2-2)

Both of these programs still have the realistic opportunity to win the Big East. They both still have West Virginia and Syracuse on their schedule which means the winner of this game will basically just have to beat the Mountaineers straight up to win the conference. The loser isn't going home empty-handed, they'll still be looking at a solid bowl appearance, but Orange Bowl dreams look so much more enticing.
Prediction: Cincy 23, UConn 21

We'll have the Syracuse prediction for tomorrow...
