Reader Cody just sent me the mostly unexpected but still depressing news that the Knicks have cut Demetris Nichols. It leaves Nichols with a couple days to latch on somewhere else, something his agent Bill Neff "is confident" will happen. And if an agent says it, it must be true.
If you want to blame anyone (besides Isiah Thomas, of course), blame Jerome James. There was no way the Knicks could waive him an the $18M they still owe him, despite the fact that James probably won't play.
Chances are, Demetris will get a few phone calls in the next day or so, so don't book that flight for Italy just yet. He'll land on his feet somewhere, I'll keep you posted.
