Thanks God The St. Johns Basketball Program Isn't Still Around To See This

Oregon had their Times Square billboards. Rutgers put their colors on top of the Empire State building. St John's plays their home games inside a behemoth arena right in the middle of the city.

These schools used their money and geographic location to tower their message high above the people of New York. As if to say, "Kneel before us, you pithy automatons, we are your college football and basketball overlords."

But Syracuse University has taken their message directly to the people. In a system used by the people. For the people.

Syracuse University is advertising on NYC taxi cabs.

Via Donnie Webb's blog, here's a glimpse at this wonderful power to the people by way of highly strategized and financially motivated marketing campaign.

The campaign is already paying dividends. This is how conversation went before the ads:

Cab passenger: Hey, you know the score of the Syracuse game?
Cab driver: I don't fucking know! What do I look like?

After the ads:

Cab passenger: Hey, you know the score of the Syracuse game?
Cab driver: What, that Orange team? I don't fucking know! What do I look like?
