The Express Is...

The Post-Standard reports today that the role of Ernie Davis in the upcoming movie The Express about his life and times at Syracuse has been filled...and you've never heard of him.

Rob Brown, whose credits include Finding Forrester, Coach Carter and Take The Lead, is the big winner. He's got some acting chops, but more importantly, he's a former footballer:

Brown last played football at Amherst in 2005. The school listed him at 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds. As a senior, Brown appeared in six games and caught three passes for 31 yards.

He attended an open casting call for Finding Forrester having never acted before and the rest, as the kids say, is history.

The film is in pre-production and filmmakers hope to begin filming in early April. Brown will star opposite Dennis Quaid, who will play former SU head football coach Ben Schwartzwalder.
