SU freshman forward Mike Jones has given notice that he will be transferring from Cuse. According to Mike Waters of the Post-Standard, Boeheim announced the decision today after practice.The main reason given for his decision was being homesick. Of course, lack of playing time may have had a tiny bit to do with it as well. Jones was getting about 6 1/2 minutes a game behind star Demetris Nichols so far this season while fellow freshman Paul Harris is seeing tons more action.
I don't know Mike Jones and I haven't paid enough attention to him as a player to know how detrimental this is to the team, but by the time next year's recruiting class takes the floor in November, me thinks that we'll have all forgotten about Mr. Jones for better or worse.
