Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician, a Syracuse Orange community

Recent Syracuse grad Dan Girard is a finalist in WFAN's "Fantasy Phenom" contest, which gives the winner a one year contract as an on-air personality with the station. Girard will be on with Mike Francesa at 2 pm today, and voting begins at 6 pm tonight after the show. Last year, Syracuse alum John Jastremski won the contest and has been hosting overnight shows at WFAN this year, so let's make it two in a row for the Orange.

The Fangraphs "crowdsource" broadcaster ratings project that produced this ranking of TV broadcast crews is at it again, this time accepting ratings for the radio teams. Make your feelings known for Rizzs (and Levine and the Wilsons -- Ken and Dan -- and Fairly Boring and everybody else on the endless Carousel of Color Men )

OK, while I think Tom Hamilton is the best in the game of baseball, I didn't really expect him to make the American Sportscasters Association's Top 50 sportscasters of all time. But I thought a FanShot could lead to some of the debate that a list like this is supposed to engender. Hard to argue with the top five. I hate Costas at #6 and Buck at #11. When's the last time Berman (#35) covered any live event besides adding his repellent "commentary" to the HR Derby? And let's just pretend we never saw that Walton selection. "Turr-ible!"
