Hey, we're doing football awards this year! Far too long have we ignored the hard-nosed Orangemen of the gridiron when giving out meaningless awards on the internet. Ryan Nassib, we apologize that we didn't do this last year...I hope you will forgive us, and if you want, I'll write up a 2012 Offensive MVP post that you can hang on your refrigerator.
Anyway, in this thread we're naming our 2013 Defensive MVP. Syracuse's defense had its ups and downs this year for sure, but down the stretch the unit played quite admirably, and there are a few deserving players here for sure.
I've included a few prime candidates on the poll below, but if you really think that Luke Arciniega should win this award, feel free to leave a comment.
Voting closes at the end of the day tomorrow, January 7, so be sure to cast your votes soon.
Here are a few finalists:
Jay Bromley - 42 tackles, 10 sacks, 14.5 TFLs, 3 forced fumbles
Marquis Spruill - 66 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 14.5 TFLs
Cameron Lynch - 69 tackles, 4 sacks, 12 TFLs, 2 Ints, 1 FF
Durell Eskridge - 78 tackles, .5 sacks, 4 TFL, 4 Ints, 1 FF
